Confidentiality is an important part of the counselling process and I take every step to ensure that it is respected.
However, I also have a duty of care and if I have concerns about the risk of self-harm or harm to others it may be necessary to notify the appropriate people. In these situations it is my preference, where appropriate, to discuss notification with the people consulting me and involve them in the process.
I undertake supervision on a regular basis to reflect on and review my therapeutic practice. Supervision is required by my professional association and is a confidential process.
I am a registered Clinical Family Therapist with the Australian Association of Family Therapy.
